May 8th, 2009

United Central Bank is offering a Global Savings Account with a 2.5% APY for balances over $50,000, 2% APY on balances from $25,000-$50,000, and 1.5% on balances under $25,000. You need a $1,000 balance in order to avoid their $10 monthly fee however.

United Central Bank is also offering a lot of other competitive financial products as well. They have a Global Money Market Account which boasts a 2.39% APY for balances of $5,000 to $75,000, 2.59% APY for balances from $75,000 to $300,000, and 3.10% APY for balances over $1,000,000. You need at least $5,000 to avoid their $10 monthly fee.

United Central Bank is offering a pretty good deal in their Fixed Rate Super Saver Installment CD. You get a 3.40% APY for terms from 1 to 5 years. The installment certificate of deposit requires that you make monthly additions to the account from a linked checking account.

In terms of CD rates United Central is currently offering 2% APY for 3 months, 2.25% APY for 6 months and 2.5% APY for 1 year. You can also open an IRA at these same rates.

One drawback is that opening an account at United Central requires a branch visit. Branches are located in California, Georgia, Maryland, Texas, and Virginia.

United Central Bank has a 3 out of 5 star soundness rating from bankrate and is insured by the FDIC.
