United Federal Credit Union is offering a 6.01% APY interest online checking account on balances up to $25,000. This rate is also guaranteed until the end of 2009 which is a pretty nice bonus.

There’s a catch though, in order to qualify you must enroll in eStatements, get one direct deposit, and make 10 debit card signature purchases every month. If you get direct deposits and use your check card regularly than this is a pretty easy task. If you can’t meet these standards then the rate drops to 0.10% APY.

The APY on amounts over $25,000 drops to 0.25% APY. You can also get up to $25 in ATM fees reimbursed every month. The minimum balance required on the account is $50.

You can open an account online or you can visit one of United Federal Credit Union’s branches in Arkansas, Michigan, North Carolina, or Ohio. United Federal Credit Union is federally insured by the NCUA.
